How to choose different wheel positions？

Tire tread is related to whether the performance of traction, braking, turning and drainage can be fully exerted. Different tire tread patterns have their own characteristics, and their dominant performance is also different.

At present, the tire patterns of trucks and buses on the market are mainly divided into:

Longitudinal pattern, transverse pattern and mixed pattern.

Longitudinal pattern

As the name implies, the grain is longitudinally designed on the tread and is continuous in circumference. Suitable for guide wheels and trailer tires.

Advantages: good handling safety, which can increase the anti-side skid ability of the tire during steering; low rolling resistance, which can reduce fuel consumption to a certain extent; good drainage performance, less slippery when driving on wading roads, low noise, higher comfort

Disadvantages: large longitudinal stiffness, weak grip when going straight, easy to slip when slamming on the brake, and easy to embed pebbles.

Transverse pattern

The transverse pattern has a transverse design on the tread and is disconnected longitudinally. Suitable for non-paved road conditions and industrial and mining areas.

Advantages: good driving force, braking force, grip performance, and strong passability in the case of poor road conditions.

Disadvantages: easy to slip side compared to the longitudinal pattern, and the fuel consumption will be slightly higher.

Mixed pattern

The tread has both longitudinal and transverse patterns, which is a more common tire pattern in the current truck market, suitable for driving wheels and full wheel positions.

The mixed pattern combines the advantages of both longitudinal and horizontal patterns, which not only ensures sufficient grip ability, but also has a strong drainage ability, and is suitable for a wider range of scenes.
